Could Martial Arts Help Actors Handle the Emotional Toll of a Role?

The more time I spend in our industry — both as an actor and coach — the more adamantly I champion the notion of 'actor as athlete', and the more potential I believe athletic training has to constructively integrate with our own.

If there was one 'sport' actors major in, it would be that of transitions. Whether we're shape-shifting into a role, from rehearsal to performance, or from artist to promotional fodder, this demand is a constant. But the toll this can take on actors, however, is largely overlooked.
